If you ski Europe. Mammoth is teh best of European skiing but in California. You need to drive 300 miles from LA (a doddle compared with Geneva to Tignes). The lifts link like the best French resorts. The accommodation and ambience is like the best Austrian resorts. The snow really does last to end of April - we went for Easter and ahd 5 feet of new snow!! Sometimes they still ski in July! June Mountain 20 minutes drive away is incredible - Easter Monday with only 20 other skiers!! OK the pass is expensive, skiing closes at 4 pm, but hten drive down to the hot springs and swim in a river surrounded by snow capped mountains. Take in LA, San Francisco, Death Valley etc - this is BIG, its family and fun. Oh and where are those lift lines?
