    Favorite mountain EVER!

    by karenmizell - 27th December 2010

Pros: Epic snow, great terrain variety, no crowds, friendly staff

Cons: Less lodging/nightlife (but this helps keep the crowds down!)

Kirkwood is the best of the best for Tahoe, and those who have discovered it return year after year. It has a small-mountain, community vibe, but plenty of... Full review

Pros: easy day trip from SF

    Cons: pricing

Nothing like getting there early and getting to the backside for an hour of (almost) solitude. The drive from SF Area is relatively easy (if you like 4.30a... Full review

Pros: great snow, lack of crowds

Cons: nothing else to do than ski

If you love skiing in powder, then this is the place to go after a storm. But you really have to love skiing to be here - it's out of the way, nothing else... Full review

    The Wood

    by Tuuktalus - 16th February 2010

Pros: Extreme terrain, most snow, no crowds

Cons: Short runs, wet snow, windy

I lived in South Lake Tahoe and worked at Kirkwood for a year. Being somewhat lazy, I only got in 65 days but I was spoiled with endless powder days of epic... Full review
