no crowds, beginner friendly, lots of powder all day when it dumps
limited terrain, slow lifts, lots of flats
June Mountain is a great place to visit to escape the crowds. With the nonexistant crowds you and your friends will feel like you guys own the mountain. I highly recommend the June to beginners as an excellent place to practice your snowboard/ski techniques. Long green runs and no crowds make for an unintimidating experience that can only improve your skills and build confidence. In addition to the non-crowds, intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders will find that if there is a dump, you will have powder tracks all day unlike Mammoth where the majority of the powder is gone within the first 3 hours. Another positive is the friendly staff and decently priced food.
The main disadvantage is the limited terrain at June. After about 3 to 4 hours, the runs can get very repetitive. In fact you will find yourself playing games like how many times can you do deer bow or how many runs can you do off of J7 in a day. In addition to the limited terrain, the mountain tends to have alot of short runs and some flat areas.
With everything being said, the advantages to June far outweigh the disadvantages. If you are looking for a great time at a decent price or are a beginner/intermediate then June is for you.
