I love June, in fact it is my home ski hill, I am absolutely devastated that they have banished me from my favorite place because I am struggling with my mental health

I am admittedly biased since I started coming here as a child. My dad was part of the June Lake Youth Association in the 60s and spent summers lumberjacks and living above the town donut shop. But I just love the low-key, relaxed unpretentiousness of the town and the people who ski there. It's not like that at June. The place seems to resonate with nice people who just love skiing and fishing and the outdoor lifestyle. I've stayed at virtually every hotel and motel there and also love the Triple Eagle Lodge. Everything is family-run up in June. The ski slopes are legit, heck the Mammoth Ski Team uses the slopes frequently b/c you're not standing in long lift lines there. Its super family oriented and all restaurants and eateries take pride in their food and service. It's like going back to the 80s. Love this place!
Super short lift lines, family friendly, local flavor
A little bit of a longer drive from the beach.

I have been coming for ten years And my husband for 30 years! We have brought our children every year and they love The open feel of the runs! The privacy starts with leaving the parking lot below and going up a chair lift to the lodge, and ski trails. The staff is friendly and every service reminiscent of local family run ski areas. If your looking for Aspen high brow stay away.
Not commercialized! Beautiful

My young family and I have been skiing at June Mountain since January 2019. We feel like the staff are very friendly EVERY trip (10+ trips and counting). It’s a great place for beginners and intermediates. The more experienced skiers tend to ski on one mountain and the beginners/intermediates tend to stay on the opposite mountain. But even when my advancing kids ski with the big boys and girls, both the staff and other skiers are great to be around. And the views are just stunning! We love June Mountain, recommend it continually to all our friends, and will return frequently.
Great value, very friendly staff, perfect place for kids to learn, a gem
Vulnerable to drought

This is the best resort out of all the top 15 resorts I’ve ever been to! Do you want good runs, good vibes, & down to earth people at every turn??? Are you tired of all the self righteous, conceded people, that have there nose in the air? If yes, then look no further join all the amazing people that call this resort home! Btw we love to rent the rooms in town to get the best relaxed cultural experience!
Best down to earth people, enjoying the best runs, your heart desires!

June is really nice. Both the mountain and the town have a great atmosphere. The mountain is a great place to bring your family to learn to ski as children 12 and under ski for free, and there are crowd-free beginner and intermediate trails. The bottom half of the mountain has serious terrain that is a lot of fun when it is open. I guess the bottom half is only open during winters with well-above-average snowfalls though. This past winter it was great.
no crowds, family friendly
serious terrain depends on snow

The problem with giving June Mountain a great review is that more people may discover this magnificent hidden gem--usually obscured by it's more famous very big brother Mammoth Mountain. I've snowboarded at Mammoth, and pretty much every other California resort, and June is my comfort mountain, in the secluded little town of June Lake, you feel protected from the outside world, the well-groomed and wide-open runs encourage you to go all out, and there's enough terrain of all levels to accommodate the newbie friends coming along, and the experts who enjoys the whole mountain. Family friendly, fun snowboarding on great runs with no pressure to impress the crowds--because there ARE no crowds! Stay in Interlaken condos because they have outdoor hot tubs where you can soak and steam under the stars or a snowy sky with an icy drink in hand. I love it so much I got engaged atop the mountain (with the staff's help!) and later got married in town for andestination wedding!
Never a lift line, wide open breathtaking runs, inexpensive all around
Limited in-town entertainment, restaurants

This was my first time snowboarding in June mountain and I just loved it. Free from crowd, long and free beginner runs. Kids under 12 has free lift pass, which is very cool as in first day many kid might not able to go to lifts at all. I put my daughter in ski school and I attended a full day snow-boarding class. They have a good magic carpet for a start and my instructor was very patient and focused. He helped everyone in group and later while in trail, he was always be with the slowest one which was ME :) But he never showed any type of annoy by any means. Very friendly and helpful. When I finished the first run (it's a 2 mile low slope trail), I felt confident and it was really fun for next few runs. Thanks June mountain and staffs for giving me such nice experience.
Long Beginner Runs, Friendly Staff Members, Less crowded
only cons (which is not a showstopper for sure) small chalet space

If you're headed to the mountains and you're driving north on 395 just skip that Mammoth exit. If you do, you'll be rewarded with no lift lines, no attitudes, and no frills skiing at it's finest. June Mountain boasts a wide range of terrain for everyone and easily accommodates beginner to advanced skiers and snowboarders. It's got an assortment of bowls and tree runs on the upper lifts and some wide open groomers down at the bottom that you can cruise as well. There's plenty of powder for everyone on the best of days and little to no competition. The terrain park is on the smaller side early in the season, but excellently maintained. The features are regularly groomed and very well planned out. There's a wide range of features for everyone ranging from boxes to rails to tabletops. If you're looking for outlet shopping, $14 cocktails, and "being seen" then June isn't for you. But, if you're looking for fresh powder and no tracks or an uninterrupted cruise down some groomers with like minded folks then June is your place.
Short lift lines, wide open terrain, good vibes
