The snow is hard and there's some bare spots but it still beats kyaking. To the person talking about global warming: stop it. Last winters early snowfall was unusual. Tahoe's ski season typically starts after Christmas. It'll come people...it always does

Even though the weathers been warm the snow is nice and staffs working there asses off to get cal side and the rest open, plenty of terrain to ski I wouldn't be worried about a mid January vaca at all

Yes of course heavenly makes snow. Keep in mind Heavenly is the fourth largest ski resort in North America so 10% might look better than you think. This is Tahoe, three weeks from now we could be lapping Mott. You'll have a great vacation!

Global warming strikes again. This time last year the entire mountain was open. That snowfall we got 2 weeks ago is the only major one we will have all year.

Does Heavenly make snow? I have vacation booked for third week in January and it doesn't look too promising as of now. Barely 10% of trails open and 1/3 of lifts.
