We spent one week at Heavenly (17-24 Mar) and had a great time. It was rather warm and around 2PM the snow got heavy and slushy at the lower elevations (7000 ft); I agree with another reviewer that there are too many ski trails that have to be traversed, some of them are even slightly uphill. That needs to be changed. Some of the lifts are very slow and take a long time to climb up the hill. I was told that several lifts will be changed to high speed quads comes next season. That will be great.
We stayed at a condo in the Stagecoach area and using the complimentary shuttle bus was no problem. For larger grocery shopping trips I recommend Safeway, otherwise there is a small market in the area. We went down to the casinos and had some good and very economical meals. (i.e. Lakeside Inn Casino has Prime rib dinner every day between 4PM-10PM for $8.95. Great deal.
I can recommend Heavenly as a nice ski area, but it is not as large as some of the Colorado and Utah resorts, mostly because many black runs were closed due to lack of enough snow. Also Mott's canyon was closed.
