DODGE RIDGE WILL REMAIN CLOSED DUE TO THE RETURN OF SPRING CONDITIONS AND ABOVE AVERAGE TEMPERATURES
There had been much hope of reopening Dodge Ridge this season if the weather had brought a return to winter. Unfortunately, due to the drought conditions, the unseasonably warm month of March, and the return of above average temperatures for the coming days and weeks ahead, the recent snowfall was not sufficient to resume normal operations. Dodge Ridge's Mountain Operations crew had been out on the mountain the past few days assessing the new snowfall and the strength of its sustainability, but even with these recent accumulations, the overall conditions were ultimately not sufficient to maintain operations for the coming weeks.
Reopenings have occurred in other drought years, most notably the Miracle March of the 1990/91 season when significant snowfall brought a March 3 reopening and a total of twenty feet of accumulations during that month. Unfortunately our current forecast does not continue with winter, but returns to spring-like conditions and above average temperatures for the coming days.
Following this season we would like to thank all of our loyal guests and dedicated staff. The many compliments given to Dodge Ridge staff by our guests was truly remarkable and their spirit is something Dodge Ridge is profoundly grateful for as we now look forward to the coming 2014/15 season.
