Foremost, I don’t know why some folk have chosen to harshly criticize this resort (a few anonymously, no less); those comments are, for the most part, completely unwarranted... At least to those of us who live in the area and often ski Dodge, as well as the major Tahoe resorts. Because in comparison Dodge Ridge holds its own; both in terms of snow levels and accommodations; given its locality and family friendly atmosphere, not to mention ease of access. Truth me told, even the Tahoe resorts occasionally suffer from a lack of snow. That’s not something the operators of Dodge can control, irrespective the lack of snow making at Dodge (big deal, man-made snow ain’t all that)! Wanna-be powder aficionados ought to lighten-up, and give this resort the respect it’s earned and consequently due. For those of us who ski quite often, Dodge Ridge is perhaps the best option to fighting crowds at the major Sierra resorts; providing easy access for valley skiers; a consistently friendly (truly welcoming) staff; and, regular improvements such as the new lodge (show in photos). Since living here in the Sierras for a good many years, and skiing accordingly. I have discovered that most resort complaints come from those whom ski occasionally (once or twice a season), and thus lack a sense of perspective. Sure one could have a bad day resulting from lesser snow, but when the white stuff falls there are few places like Dodge Ridge for escaping the hordes and doing so without much fuss. ...Try Dodge Ridge after a storm and you’ll see what I mean!
