Pros: No lift lines, free for military, best ski school.

Cons: No Half Pipe, no on-site lodging. Lazy ski bums everywhere! (kidding!)

Alpine Meadows is a local favorite for a good reason. It has amazing snow, terrain types for all levels, short lift lines and the IMHO the best ski school in Tahoe. The fact that it is not as large as Squaw is part of the reason people love it here as all of the people are just down to earth and want to have some fun. They have a few places to eat on the mountain and a bar is located on the backside where you can get PBR's for only $2! It also does not have a half-pipe, so if you are into that sort of thing, I suggest heading over to Boreal Ridge. For you all backcountry riders, take the Scott Chair and traverse left for 5 minutes. For the powder seekers, head backside and traverse over to the Sherwood chair and hike the bowls. IN THE END, if you have only 1 day in North Tahoe, go to Squaw but if you have more, put Alpine on the list.
