Terrain, Cheaper Lifte Tickets, Less Crowded
High winds can close Summit Six chair.
Alpine is definitely one of my favorite resorts in Lake Tahoe. It's got a local feel with a modern lift system. The trail map doesn't do the place justice, there is a ton of great terrain. The have a lot of hike-to terrain, nothing more than 15 minutes though, which I don't mind, as it usually keeps the crowds away and allows those areas to keep good snow long after the storms have rolled through.
My only real gripe, and its not really the resort's fault is it can get windy on the upper mountain which can sometimes (not necessarily during storms) close the Summit Six lift, which can limit some of the accessible terrain.
