It may have been a powder day, which made for some decent skiing, but beneath that sliver of pow is crusty ice, and we're headed for positive temps again this week. Give us a break already. We need lots more snow.
Not great. The warm weather has meant repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which means slick surfaces and chunky ice blocks. Tune your skis, and make sure you use your edges. You'll need them. Snow coverage remains less than optimal. The groomed runs are okay.
As a skier, one needs to exercise the "skier beware" protocol. You know the conditions!!! Nakiska is not in charge of the weather. All resorts are bad right now. They can only make so much snow. This is a sport where the weather is the gamble.
All things considered, it's not so bad. There's obviously no powder, and there's some exposure, but with 125cm, what do you expect. Hard-charging fast day on piste. With the sun it gets nice and soft. Worth the drive for sure.
