Assuming these ratings are relative to EASTERN US skiing, HV is certainly a great resort offering fun skiing for all ages. They invest in high-quality snow makers, lighting, groomers, lodges (Yodeler Bar!) and lifts (mostly quads, 2 high-speed). It does get quite crowded on long weekends, but there are lifts (like Chute and Eagle) that access great skiing and never have long lines. Keep in mind the more crowded, the better apres ski. Best part? Ellicottville. My personal favorite ski town in the US because of its timeless grittiness and its lack of touristy nonsense and pretension. Great place to rent a house and bring the family. Don't come until after mid-January but check out Octoberfest Weekend
