I was in Whistler January 2006 and had a great experience. As a Boston resident I ski the northeast regularly, and have made trips out west to various Colorado and Utah resorts. I was very impressed with this resort. The village is great, very charming. lots to do, extremely walkable. Once you are there, you find no need for a vehicle. The best part of Whistler is the skiing though. I was lucky enough to benefit from record snowfalls in January when I visited which was great. I would not say the snow is as great as you get in Utah or Colorado, but the terrain is fantastic. Both peaks offer a great variety and challenge, some of the chutes at the top of Whistler were pretty amazing. The veritical rise is impressive, you seem to go through 3 different climate zones from base to peak. Top of the mountain is great, feels like "real" skiing as opposed to a resort feel. I loved the mountain, was very impressed, and can't wait to get back again!
