Full review

We just spent 3 very full days at Sun Peaks and really loved it. We were staying in the East village and had a great plan of attack on the hill. Every morning we would ski into the Morrisey lift and work our way clockwise across Burfield and finally Sundance as that's we had to come from that mountain to get back to our condo. All 3 mountains have great cruiser runs, which are our favorite. On Morrisey you have the amazing The Sticks run as well as Still Smoking, I Dunno and a couple more. On Burfield you have the epic 5 Mile run that is a lot of fun. On Sundance you have Three Bears, Homesteader and Rambler where you can just blast away and cruise. There is an abundance of cheap hotels and condos all over the place, we scored a 2 BR/2 BTH, kitchen, private hot tub, BBQ, underground parking, ski locker and of course ski in/ski out all for $185 a night, what a STEAL. As everyone has stated before, the place was completely devoid of human life where we were there. There was literally no one on the Tues, Wed & Thursday (of last week) that we were there. We literally almost had Morrisey to ourselves for hours each morning. We were 2nd chair, 1st chair and 1st chair all mornings...and we didn't come early. Nightlife was non-existent when we were there, which is pretty much how we like it. If you're more into the Tremblant or Whistler-type partying, you're in the wrong place. Grooming was good, they didn't have the capacity to do the whole hill at once, so some runs were bumpy, but the ones that were groomed were beautiful and smooth. We encountered zero ice last week, not one spot. The Burfield bowl up top would be RIDICULOUS in powder, unfortunately we didn't get a chance to experience it. Speaking of Burfield, that quad chairlift is interesting as it has a mid station loading point. The only problem with it is it is DEADLY SLOW! I advise against taking it. Instead of taking "Back In Time" to get from Morrisey to Burfield chair, we took Delta's return and crossed over to the Sunburst chair and then Crystal chair. It just takes too long on Burfield. They should go quad detachable there for sure, as there is some fantastic terrain at the top. Terrain parks looked decent with expert, medium and beginner parks, see pic of expert park. They do their build days on Wednesday, be aware. Mid mountain lodge at the top of Sunburst is the go-to place for a quick lunch. The calzones are great as well as the sticky buns. One of my pics above is through the window looking towards Headwall, great place to watch the rippers coming down the double black. Fav runs: Spillway, The Sticks, Three Bears, Still Smoking, I Dunno, Crystal Run, Lunchtime, 5 Mile, Homesteader, Home Instead, Rambler, Juniper Ridge (for view). We are mostly intermediate, so didn't hit a ton of the blacks. Glades off of Cahilty are great as well as various points off of 5 Mile & pretty much everywhere on the east side of Mt Morrisey. Least favorite: Back in Time (traversing run from Morrisey to Burfield, too many flat spots), Roundabout (top is cool, bottom is way too flat, especially for boarders) Long story short: we're going back, and soon.
