Snowing all day yesterday and last night. Pockets of powder building and some icy patches mid-mountain. Today should be great! Still low coverage so lots of side runs not open yet. Whistler was getting crowded so Blackcomb has been less congested all week.
Picture is from yesterday (15 Dec).
Stayed mostly on Emerald and Harmony Express. Decent snow... patches of ice as the day progresses and it gets tracked out.
It's possible to find pockets of powder but they are few and far between.
Peak is open as well as the Harmony chair. Conditions are fairly good. Very icy at times (lower runs). Peak and upper levels have good coverage and good snow. Rocks are abound and there are hard packed/icy areas on high traffic runs near the peak.
Less people now that more lifts are open.
It's definitely worth it to head up and ski the mountain.
Let me stress this: STAY AWAY. You can only use the top and loop the runs off Stairway To Heaven lift. The front runs are NOT skiable. Also, the road that takes you to the Catmount Chair, is very icy. So it is a lousy ski out to a lift that is required to take you to the bottom. Kicking Horse needs a lot more snow. Probably out of action until perhaps February.
