This alpine resort is an excellent destination for any riding fool. Although the accommodations and lodge are oriented towards the full-weekend families, the best deal comes to a black-diamond powder freak with packed lunches and a midweek pass. You can find both groomed and treed runs are virtually private on these days, even during peak times. For the absolute beginner to even the aspiring aggressive type, one or two ski or board lessons with a world-class Washington Snow Pro is well worth it (and you get to cut the lines). For the best camera angle backdrop, take a little hike after the first Boomerang lift at a sign to "Copper" which can on clear days see all surrounding peaks as well as north to Campbell River and east to coastal mountains across the straits. Very photogenic, very understated.
