Full review

Fernie is at its best in Jan and Feb, in those months very few mountains have the consistent snowfall that fernie gets. Unlike lake louise, sunshine, and many other resorts close to Calgary... fernie can hold good powder conditions for days. The grooming in fernie has gotten better over the years, but that is really not what the mountain is about. My first ten visits to fernie i did not see less than a foot of powder, on certain years it pukes and that is what makes it special. Some people complain that the mountain is "farmed" ie... that there are avalanche closures that seem to revolve with the weekends when everyone from calgary comes, personally i think they do an amazing job. Watching when the bowls are opening is key to getting the most out of fernie For those powder hounds visiting from far off places, surley both fernie and revelstoke have the most powder for the least crowds in jan and feb
