Limited Skiing When Snow Reaches 5cm; Ropes Everywhere Making Skiing Dangerous
Fernie used to be known for its powder skiing. Unfortunately if the resort receives more then 5cm the Bowls begin to close and therefore not only does it limit skiing, but makes skiing on the upper slopes dangerous (weekend crowds). A number of the runs have been roped. This not only restricts your skiing but presents a safety hazard, since seeing the ropes become difficult when it does snow. Prices a very high compared to other resorts with much better on hill facilities. Out houses which are the main washroom facilities are not emptied therefore are not very pleasant. Ticket scanning is now being done at all lifts which results in slowdown of chair operations and lift lines during peak times. Summer maintenance of the hill is non existent which has caused many hazards on the hill when snow is sparse. Lift ticket prices are increased by $5 per day during prime time.
