We have just returned from 10 days at Big White. Overall we had a fantastic skiing experience with nice fresh, dry snow with clear sunny skies on wide well groomed slopes although very cold (-15c).
The resort caters particularly well for kids under 12, however not particularly well for mid to late teenagers in comparison to say, Whistler. Whilst the resort runs skiing lessons for all levels of skier, sometimes you don't want a lesson, you just want to ski with a group of similar ages and levels and be taken to different parts of the mountain which Big White doesn't cater for. The resort has limited options if the weather prohibits a day on the slopes. Other than that, it was hard to fault.
In summing up, if I had younger kids, Big White is a good option, but our experience will take us back to Whistler. The costs are similar, in fact we paid 20% more for our ski hire at Big White this year, than we did at Whistler at the same time last year. John
