Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche: 1570-Metre-Vertical; Europe's Highest Snowpark
The Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche Zermatt Ski Area is one of the largest in the Alps. Its varied domain stretches across three valleys and two countries: Italy and Switzerland.
Valtournenche is famous for its vertical drop - 1570 metres - which is the second biggest after Chamonix. The ski area starts at the Valtournenche (1524 metres) and rises up to the Piccolo Cervino (3883 metres).

Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche's 150 kilometres of runs combine with Zermatt's 313 kilometres to form an extensive area to suit all levels (23 percent blue, 57 percent red, and 20 percent black). The area boasts 18 kilometres of cross-country skiing. Due to its high altitude, Breuil Cervinia's cross-country skiing is open all year round.
The area is also home to Europe's highest snowpark at 3000 metres. Indian Park is widely regarded as being one of the best in Italy. It encompasses 40,000 square metres and is ideal for all levels of riding. There are different jumps and rails to suit beginners, intermediates, and experts, as well as three-, six-, and 11-metre kickers. Adrenalin seekers can hit the legendary 18-metre ‘Decolletor' and the fearsome ‘Doggy House'.
Valtournenche (1524 metres) is nine kilometres from Breuil-Cervinia (2050 metres). The town centres are lined with bars, pubs, pizzerias, restaurants, and retail shops. The ski schools offer individual and group lessons with ski instructors in English and Italian.
Breuil-Cervinia's local ski area is best suited to intermediates (10 blue runs, 29 red, and seven black). Valtournenche's local slopes are also good for intermediates (seven blue runs, seven red runs).
As well as its links with Zermatt, Breuil-Cervinia is also part of the Aosta Valley Ski Area with access to 180 individual pistes. The appropriate lift pass will enable you to ski or snowboard to the other resorts in the Aosta Valley: Alagna Valsesia, Courmayeur, Crevacol, Etroubles, La Thuile, Pila, and Saint-Rhemy-en-Bosses.
Breuil-Cervinia's ski infrastructure underwent significant refurbishment in 2006/7 and there are seven new lift systems serving the slopes. Four airports are set within 2.5 hours' drive of Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche, including Turn (1.5 hours), Milan (2 hours), Geneva (2.5 hours), and Bergamo (2.5 hours).
