What have I been missing out on over the years?!

Well, St. Anton is a friendly village offeing great hospitality. We stayed at the Alpenhof which was a family run hotel just 10 mins walk to the west of the centre - the food and service was great - it had it's own minibus for rides into town too.

The food is generally of a great standard across all of the places we ate - even on the slopes.

The apres ski is something else in St. Anton - the Mooserwirt from 3pm onwards is a hedonistic melting pot of people who want to party and have some good well mannered fun - it really is a must do experience - we went there most days - it couldn't be surpassed. It's fun in itself watching the partygoers ski down the mountain after an afternoon at the Mooserwirt - watch your skis and poles though if you partake in the fun - they can get mixed up.

Lech and Zurs are two charming villages just a short bus ride out of St. Anton - they offer great skiing in a more refined and luxurious setting.

The skiing is generally intermediate with plenty of off-pisting - there aren't too many snowboarders around as its mainly a skiing resort.

I'm back there in 2009 - can't wait.
