    More extreme fun in Aspen as the Nissan Aspen/Snowmass Open resulted in some wild action in the air and on the slopes. Over 300 athletes from five countries competed in eight disciplines, on skis and on boards. Full Article

    Bring your beads to the slopes February 20 for Fat Tuesday fun. Mountain towns and especially ski bums are big bargainers for beads of purple, green and gold. Snowmass Village hosts one of the oldest Mardi Gras festivals in the Rocky Mountains. Full Article

  • Aspen Art On the Mountain

    A unique Aspen art exhibit had everyone hiking high up the mountain for a first-hand peek. The Red Bull Illume Image Quest featured international action and adventure sports photography. Fifty photos from 45 photographers were illuminated on massive black boxes, high up on the edge of Little Nell Run on Aspen Mountain, just above the gondola base. Full Article

    Over the past 20 years Aspen Highlands has transformed itself into the perfect place to spend time on the snow. The base area is easily accessible and uncrowded. All trails eventually lead down to the base, and there is something for everyone. Seriously steep bumps come with "Experts Only" warning signs. Beautifully groomed corduroy snow greets earlybirds who make it to the mountain first thing in the morning. Full Article

    Denverites were hit hard for the second time in a little more than a week as a major winter storm rolled through the area, knocking out power and shutting down the airport again. The ski areas, meanwhile, stayed pretty dry. Full Article

    No self-respecting snow dog should be allowed to wind-surf his human's pick 'em up truck without a pair of Doggles - eye protection for alpine dogs. John and Melanie Humphrey, owners of Cool Dog Sunglasses on the Snowmass Village Mall, say doggles are just the ticket for fashion forward high country canines. Full Article

    Denver and the Front Range had to shut down for what some have called the Storm of the Year. It put a halt to holiday travel, especially at Denver International Airport, where travelers could only look at the snow, rather than get to play on it. Full Article

    It will be easier this winter to get in and out of Aspen. United Airlines is offering direct flights from Los Angeles, Chicago/O'Hare, and San Francisco. International travelers can take advantage of one-stop connections from London/Heathrow, Paris, Frankfurt, Sydney, Auckland and Sao Paulo. Full Article
