Have skied Europe and other North American resorts but Snowmass is still my favourite. Hardly ever a lift line and you can always find a run where you feel like the only skier on it. Excellent ski in/out lodgings.
Long cruisy blues and excellent snow quality.
Expensive to stay there.

Jan 6–10, 2024. Skied all four mountains on 5-day Ikon Base+. Highlands was favorite due to intermediate to expert terrain and uncrowded conditions that preserved snow quality longer than the other mountains. RFTA Intermountain bus service was reliable but inconveniently required transferring bus lines. On mountain lodges and services smartly placed. And après scene is adequate at Ajax and Snowmass.
Varied Terrain and Abundant on Mountain Services
Lacks Resort Cohesiveness and Intermountain Logistics

Skied Ajax, Aspen Highlands and Snowmass. The best resort I have ever skied of 55. So much variety and vertical. The incredible trees of the Big Burn. It's been many years since I was there, this is #1 to me.
Great terrain, steeps, trees and vertical
expensive

Our family has been skiing Aspen Snowmass every year since 2015. Over the years there have been continuous improvements in lifts and amenities on the mountain as well as a build out of the Snowmass base village. We spend most of our time on Snowmass, which is the largest of the 4 mountains, and enjoy spending a day here and there on the other 3 mountains. Snowmass is very family friendly and much of the lodging is ski-in and ski-out.
Vast and well maintained trail network; excellent lifts with no wait
Not easy to get to; food and lodging are pricey

Aspen Snowmass has a wide variety of terrain. This is a fantastic mountain for racing, side-country skiing, park and pipe and free skiing. The food at the mountain lodges is absolutely terrible except for Pizza Up at the top of Big Burn. The powderhorn, the wall and AMF are fun runs on powder days. This is a great place to go spring skiing in early April. This mountain should stay open until May 1st but it closes too early due to the Elk migration. Big Air Dave has spoken…
Low skier density
Corporate mountain that prices out low and middle income families.

Arguably the best all around skiing in Colorado. It is pricey and the vibe is a bit different, becasue well it is Aspen. Not everyone's cup of tea. There is some very high quality skiing here and nobody can deny that with a straight face. In terms of a big name Co resorts Aspen blow Vail out of the water. Personally I still like CB and Telluride better though even though they are definately smaller. I just like the vibe at those hills better. I lived near Aspen and skied Highlands and Snowmass as my home hill for a bit and the skiing is fantastic if you can handle the ocasionally snooty attitude and can afford the sky high prices.
Huge complex of skiing with something for everyone
Really expensive place in general, skiing is very good. Be ready to spend a lot of money though. Highland is a hoot for skilled skiers, Snowmass has something for everyone, and Buttermilk is great for novices or terrain park folks.

Snowmass is amazing, it is unfortunately another one of those Corporate mountain but done right for the most part, and the fact it's far away, few people get there. It's a mountain for intermediates, but if you get there during storm the soft runs are special for some reason. Wide and simply fun. I stayed at probably most luxuries suit on the mountain so my view of the place might not be fair, but it's probably #1 place in Colorado. Not too crowded, family oriented, and money oriented, so no skiing vibe,or not athletes vibe. That means you can find tons of secret places no one even went to. Super expensive like most corporate mountains. High up so you need to acclimate. Super close to downtown Aspen. Beautiful drive from Denver. People have a different vibe than let's say Florida or even NYC, but they are not rude, so the mountain feels pleasant. Family resort for sure. The only problem is the babysitting of the skier just like on almost every mountain in Colorado. There is no tram from bottom to the top. You take like 4 lifts and a hike to get to what is intermediate terrain anyway. That is the worst thing for Snowmass. They assume they know better. The entire Colorado knows better how to raise a skier and that is the biggest minus. It takes gymnastics and hours to get to the top.
Super pleasant and not crowded
Corporate mountain feel.

Over priced and over rated in this skiers eyes.
Some good powder and runs on upper areas but slushy at bottom.
Had my car vandalized in parking garage. Mgmt didn’t respond at all. No cameras or security anywhere. Plus it was $25 to park!

Huge huge shoutout to James Lippert who was incredibly helpful on the slopes and helped my friend ski down the mountain and put on her skis. James was understanding, patient and helpful and I can't thank him enough. Kudos to him and I'll certainly be back in Aspen because of his wonderful service to go out of his way to help us.
