No lift lines
lodge needs more maintenance, some tree runs could be opened up a bit to enjoy
We haven't been to Sunrise in 15 years and wanted to give it a try again in mid Jan. '09. The snow was dry and fantastic, little to no ice, grooming very good . Except for a few unmarked exposed spots that had blown off at the top, it was great for this time of the season. There should have been markers in place to protect your equipment.
There was a lite crowd on Mon. and Tues., leaving us with open runs and no lift lines.
The rooms at the lodge were fair and need some work, but came out to $25 for the standard section, after tickets were included with the $120 a day package for 2. You get what you pay for, I guess. The path outside the room window, was nearly un-shoveled, making it difficult to navigate it with gear. Toilet ran, outside door had to be blasted open to get in or out. The lounge area seemed nice with the large fireplace going each night, and the pool area was a good place to relax. All in all, it was a no casualty, rather inexpensive ski trip from Phoenix, and with lack of maintenance, hasn't changed much in 15 years. The high speed quad was a plus though.
