Excellent terrain, Wide open slopes
Gets crowded and icy.
I spent one day in Courmayeur on my weeklong trip to Chamonix. If you buy the weeklong pass, you have the option to spend one day at Courmayeur, and it includes the bus trip through Mont-Blanc into Italy. There are excellent wide open slopes on both the front and backside of the mountain. Higher up the mountain I found untouched powder. One thing that was missing was challenging terrerain for expert skiers. Like most European resorts, if you want steep runs, you need to go off-piste. There were definitely runs that I enjoyed and was able to challenge myself on, but that's because I cranked up the speed and tried to hold tighter lines. I don't believe that I could spend an entire week at Courmayeur; it is just too small, but as a day trip from Chamonix it's a must do.
