Andorra: Interlinked resorts, high-altitude skiing -

Grandvalira is Andorra’s biggest ski region and incorporates the resorts of Soldeu el Tarter, Pas de la Casa/Grau Roig, Encamp and Canillo. The area offers 210km of slopes between 1,710-2,640m.

Vallnord is Andorra's other big ski region, spanning 63km of pistes up to 2,625m, and combining the resorts of Pal, Arinsal and Arcalis.

Soldeu el Tarter (1,710m) is the ski capital of Andorra. This charming village draws all levels of skiers with 92km of runs (14 green, 15 blue, 12 red, and 11 black) linked by 29 lifts. The 380 snow cannons offer even coverage and snowboarders will enjoy the snowpark. The village features mainly four- and five-star hotels as well as plenty of bars and restaurants lining the main street. Here you can taste everything from traditional Andorran fare to a wide choice of international dishes.

Pas de la Casa/Grau Roig (2,050m) is renowned for its lively night life and young atmosphere. It offers 100km of piste linked by 31 lifts. The 382 snow cannons guarantee excellent conditions. Snowboarders can practise tricks at the snowpark. The village is known as Andorra’s winter party capital and is particularly popular with the 18 to 30s crowd. Many start the evening with a pub crawl of the countless British bars before dancing into the early hours at the nightclubs.

Encamp (2,060m) offers 63 pistes (29 green, 23 blue, and 11 red) linked by 29 lifts. The resort of Encamp is set above 1,500m so snowfall is reliable, but it also has 320 snow cannons for even coverage. Encamp also features a snowpark for boarders.

Canillo has three pisted runs (one black and two blue) reaching a skiable height of 2,465m.

Pal-Arinsal (1,500m) has pistes for all levels, but is particularly good for beginners and intermediates. Despite the laid-back appearance of the resort, there is a buzzing après ski scene with plenty of bars and restaurants.

Arcalis (1,940m), with the best off-piste in Andorra, has merged with Pal-Arinsal to form the Vallnord skiing area.

Andorra is served by two main airports Toulouse – Blagnac in France (196 kilometres away) and Barcelona in Spain (202 km away).
