We travelled as a group of 12 and had a fantastic holiday! I would highly recommend Banff and Sunshine Village to anyone.
Our tri area pass covered Lake Louise, Sunshine Village and Norquay. A great free bus service runs frequently to all three resorts. The only word of caution is UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES plan to take the advertised 6.30pm bus back from Sunshine. The only available bar where you can indulge in a spot of apres kicks out at 5.45pm and it's a chilly wait outside until 6.30pm. Get the 5pm bus and your apres back in Banff.
As a novice skier, progressing to low intermediate, I would highly recommend starting out at Sunshine off the Strawberry and Wawa lifts. Lots of lovely wide runs which merge into each other to chose from allowing a seamless progression from easy greens to steeper blues - excellent for confidence building. Sunshine had by far the best snow when we were there.
The ski lodge at Sunshine is depressing, try Trappers bar instead, just next to the Strawberry and Mount Standish lifts.
