Ski Big Three, Canada, Region Overview Video //
The terrain at Mount Norqauy is great for intermediate and beginners. There may be limited terrain to explore but Mt. Norquay has an abundance of groomed trails, steep bumps, and amazing views of Banff and the surrounding mountain peaks.
The ski area is a great escape from the crowds at the other resorts that surround Banff. The resort is also closer to the town of Banff and is more protected when the snow starts blowing. The ski area is more geared towards beginners and intermediates but the expert and advanced skier will find some terrain worth exploring.
Mount Norquay is named after John Norquay, the premiere of Manitoba from 1878-1887, who climbed the mountain in 1888. The first ski runs were cut in 1926.
During the summer time, visitors can explore the Via Ferrata. The Via Ferrata, or iron road, is a climb lead by a certified guide where adventurers make their way up the cliff assisted by a fixed anchoring system of cables, ladders and a suspension bridge.
