We travelled as a group of 12 and had a fantastic holiday! I would highly recommend Lake Louise and Banff to anyone. We stayed in the Swiss Village at the Inns of Banff which was basic, but given the bargain price based on 4 sharing a room, certainly not a problem. Our tri area pass covered Lake Louise, Sunshine Village and Norquay. Lake Louise was the best of the three resorts overall, but the snow was a little more packed than at Sunshine. The beautiful, often tree lined runs here are far more defined than those in Sunshine. Some of the greens were nicely described by a local as as "dark green" - in places they can appear a little steep if you're new or just a little rusty on your skis. Start out on the green Wiwaxy run via the chairlift before heading up the mountain on the gondola to the darker greens! Juniper is a great easy blue to try. If you're looking for lessons whilst you're here, Lake Louise is THE PLACE to take them. When we travelled, "early tracks" private ski or boarding lessons were just $99 which is an absolute bargain!!! You can include up to 5 friends/family of a similar ability in the lesson or just go for one to one. "Early tracks" means dragging yourself out of bed a bit earlier to start your lesson at 8.30am rather than 10.30am, but you save $60 and get private access to the mountain before public access starts at 9am. For food in the lodge at Louise, you MUST try the World Cup Room. They do a fab breakfast buffet and the best lunch we had all holiday.
