big terrain, lots of runs, fun snow
can get icy on front side
I love Lake Louise. When there is snow, it is a great place to ski. Top to bottom, a km of vertical to skit with little flat. Lots of varied terrain, 3 different ski areas (front, back and larch). Tree skiing, wide open bowls, wide groomers. Ski front side in the morning and then the backside in the afternoon. I was there 5 days after about 60cm of snow falling and there was still great skiing on the backside. The front side tends to get skied out by afternoon, especially in low snow conditions. Generally pretty steep, even for beginners. The base has full amenities (rentals, store, ski service, restaurants, café, area for bags etc). I have also taken lessons at lake louise and they were good. Note: if snow cover low, go to Sunshine instead. The snow is 'almost' always better there.
