Visited 1/30-2/6/10. Flew into Calgary from NJ thru Houston. Housed up in Canmore just outside of Banff Nat PK. Good options in Canmore thru VRBO.com vs hotels inside Banff if you have group of 4 or more. Lots of reasonable dining options in Canmore -plus full service supermarket/booze/ski rental options. At the same time staying in Banff saves about 15 mins drive each day to Sunshine and Lake Loiuse resorts. Other than Banff Hot springs and touring Banff Springs Hotel, main drag is all usual tourist shops. Hot spings are a must to wipe away the screaming quads. Sunshine Village resort has easy drop off to lodge and next to Gondola to get you up into main runs - not thrilled with how upper slopes have alot of crossing traverse trails -but the place is huge with lots of options - final trail back to base is kind of a drag - but it does offer alot to the intermediate skier. Lake Louise - while deeper into the park travel wise is worth the trip for long open blasters pretty much from top to bottom. Easy drop off to lodge and lunch -less crowded - used as Down hill for World Cup - conditions were all sunny for us there so we had butter cream on those days. No doubt the best overall scenery of any trip taken.
