Lake Louise is having a killer snow season. The January 9 snow report on their site mentioned 3 cm of new snow, but there was at least 8 or 9 in the parking lot at 8:30 and a heck of a lot more up high. I don't think i've ever skiied the usually bullet-proof Men's Downhill in boot-top powder before.

The snow continued all day and was the icing on top of the already deep base that Louise has this year. I skiied stuff I hadn't in years, with the usual barely-hidden rock outcrops buried under the new storm snow. Visibility was a bit tough with the consistent snow, but steep lines on the backside held deep pockets everywhere...ER6, Whitehorn gullies, Ptarmigan trees, ER face and Little 5, Paradise. On the front, Upshoots, Flight Chutes and all the treed stashes around the old eagle Chair liftline were great even at 3 PM. Even the normally firm groomers were sweet.

The pasta bar in the Great Bear Room was awesome for a mid-day refueling.
