I lived here a long time but skied and raced all over the4 world for 40 years. I will tell you that pound for pound Alyeska is the best. More steep and tough stuff per acre than anywhere else, and Alyeska gets a LOT of snow. This is a mountain where it is steep from top to bottom, not like those that claim the powder but where you make 30 turns then get in someone else's tracks to get across the flat back to the lift. When it's nasty here it is horrible, but when it is good, it is unbelieveable. There are no lift lines at Alyeska. Maybe this will let you in on a secret. Ride the tram. You can get more vertical here per dollar than anywhere else in north america.
