  • Alyeska Tries to Keep Things Safe

    Alaska might be the last frontier but you're only allowed to go so far on its biggest mountain resort or it's going to cost you plenty. This season nearly 70 skier and snowboarders have lost a total of 657 days of skiing for various infractions at Alyeska Resort, including riding out of bounds.     As a way to thank loyal locals and to celebrate President's Day, Alaska's Alpenglow resort was not only open for a rare Monday run, they offered all Anchorage Ski Club members a free day on the slopes.     The 11th annual Alaska Ski for Women took place on February 4, 2007, in Anchorage, Alaska, at Kincaid Park. This 2.4 mile Nordic ski event for women of all ages and abilities saw ladies in colorful costumes come together to raise funds for local non-profit organizations that help stop domestic abuse against women and children.     There may never be another year quite like record-breaking 2006/07 for experiencing heli-skiing in Alaska. The Tordrillo Mountain Lodge is 60 miles west of Anchorage and situated between two 11,000-foot volcanoes.
