Abruzzo is an perfect place for winter vacations thanks to the abundant natural snow. The ski resorts, which all have modern ski lifts and snowmaking capabilities, have slopes ideal for all ability levels and interests whether it be downhill skiing, snowboarding or cross country skiing. Roccaraso and Rivisondoli offer 119km of sunny slopes. The sun also shines on Campo Felice and Ovindoli, which are easily reachable from Rome. The two resorts, together with Campo Imperatore, make up the Nevi Gemelle consortium where a single ski pass gains access to 65 km of slopes.

The slopes of Prati di Tivo and Passo Lanciano-Maielletta have a view of the sea. The resorts of Pescocostanzo, San Giacomo-Monte Piselli, Prato Selva, Pescasseroli, Scanno, Marsia, Campo Rotondo, Campo di Giove, Passo San Leonardo, Pizzoferrato, and Gamberane continue to grow in size and importance.

And for fans of cross-country skiing the mountains of Abruzzo have a lot to offer: trails alternate between gently undulated plateaus and beech forests. There are also many ski mountaineering itineraries and the opportunity to try activities like dogsledding.
