An attractive village which acts as the administrative centre of the High Tatras. IT WAS FOUNDED AS EARLY AS 1793 AND IS THE OLDEST Tatra settlement left relatively unspoilt by the Communist regime. The main ski area is accessed by an aged funicular and a candidate for the 2006 Winter olympic downhill. There are three small ski areas - Star?, Nov?, and Doln?.
