Area Profile

They've been busy at Snowmass. There's a new base village under construction and an array of renovations in the cards for this favored Colorado resort, a mere 15 minutes from Aspen. When completed (estimated to be around 2011) the new base village will included a 25,000-square-foot children's center, 15,000-square-foot conference space, 64,000 square feet of new shops and restaurants, community aquatic center and a multitude of lodging options.

A host of on-mountain improvements will greet skiers and riders for the 2007-2008 season.

The Treehouse Kids’ Adventure Center is basecamp for all things family. As the centerpiece for kids programming at Aspen/Snowmass, The Treehouse stands as the first of its kind in the snowsports industry.

The Elk Camp Meadows learning area brings beginners into the high-alpine with a dedicated quad chair. Introduced last season, the new Elk Camp Gondola makes quick work of the distance from the new base village to Elk Camp Meadows in less than ten minutes.

Other on-mountain upgrades for 2007-2008 include a new and improved Snow Park Technologies terrain park and halfpipe area, while future projects such as the new Elk Camp Meadows activity center and the new Sam’s Knob restaurant are just a season away.
