The Fendels - Ried - Prutz ski resort in the Eastern Hishlands of Tyrol region has a reputation with families thanks to its free lift tickets for children up to age nine when accompanies by a paying parent. The area is reached by driving up the valley from Prutz and Faggen to get the gondola up at Reid to the base of the ski area at Fendels. The lifts open up a vertical that would be in the top three in North America.
Lift lines are rarely if ever seen and along with groomed slopes for all levels of difficulty, there's a kid's playground with trampoline, a five kilometre (three mile) toboggan run and night skiing to 10.30pm weekly.
